Terms
Terms of use
This terms document is a placeholder and has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
It needs legal review before launch. The factual description of what the product does is accurate and written from the code; the legal language is not finished, and nothing here should be relied on as a binding term.
What this is
Venture: From Zero is a single-player simulation. You create a fictional company and make one decision per simulated business quarter. The scenarios are written from published accounts of real companies, and the outcomes are produced by a model we wrote.
It is entertainment, and a way to think about trade-offs. It is not financial, legal, investment, tax or business advice, it does not value a real company, and it does not forecast a real market. Do not make a decision about an actual business because of what happened in a simulated quarter.
The research content
Historical summaries are drawn from the cited sources. Alternative choices, effects, and delayed outcomes are original game-design hypotheses for play, not claims about what would certainly have happened.
Historical summaries are attributed to the sources listed on the research page, and remain the property of their publishers. Company names and trade marks referred to in those summaries belong to their owners, and their appearance is not a claim of endorsement, affiliation, or approval.
If you believe a summary is inaccurate, it should be corrected rather than defended. Content flagged for review is recorded in the import report instead of being quietly edited.
Your saves
A guest company lives in this browser. We cannot restore it, because we never had it. Clearing site data deletes it.
A company saved to an account lives in our database, and we will make a reasonable effort to keep it — but this is a game, not a system of record, and no guarantee of availability or durability is offered. Keep nothing here that you cannot afford to lose.
Accounts and saves may be removed if an account is used to attack the service or other players.
What is not promised
- That the service is available, uninterrupted, or free of defects.
- That the simulation is accurate about any real market, company, or outcome.
- That content, balance, or scoring will stay as it is. A balance change can alter how an existing company plays.
- That a save will survive indefinitely, in either storage.
